PURAFUEL OILFUEL OILFUEL OIL IN POWER PLANT

   VESSEL DIESEL ENGINE

The following is a preliminary report describing the running conditions of five 6400 HP 1959 NORBERG marine-diesel engine before and after PT-Fuel Oil is used. Each unit has an electrical generating capacity rating of 4 MW (megawatts) output.

Before using PT-Fuel Oil, all units were badly spewing high amounts of polluting smoky stack exhaust emissions. Because of this, the plants were limited to 2.5 MW of output. If they tried to increase the electric generating output, then the exhaust smoke would be so bad that the officials would not allow it and they would be ordered to run at the reduced electric power output of 2.5 MW. Here the discharge exhaust emissions pollution reading is a Ringleman Number of 80.

PT-Fuel Oil was added to the fuel in unit No.1, only. After only two days running, the exhaust discharge cleared to where the Ringleman number dropped to 35. This was a smoke reduction of 56%. Also, there was an 8 percent reduction in the amount of fuel required. Then, the electric output was increased to 3.5 MW while maintaining the clean exhausts at Ringleman number of 35. This output electric generating capacity of 3.5 MW, compared to the lower before PT-Fuel Oil output of 2.5 MW, is an output gain of 40 percent.
