ProTec’s engineers have hands on experience in helping refiners find the right fuel reformulation and optimize actual production based on their current refining configuration.

ProTec International has also teamed up with a Fuel Research Institute that allows our company to provide customers with the latest discoveries in fuel, fuel additive and catalyst formulations. For example, a new gasoline, which significantly produces lower emissions than California Phase 2 reformulated gasoline, the lowest polluting gasoline on the domestic and world market today. At the same time this new gasoline achieves better mileage and costs less to make.

This gasoline is a blend of refinery hydrocarbon streams. The fuel can be any combination of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons and can contain alcohols, ethers or additives. Unlike the complicated refinery processes, such as reforming, Alkylation and isomerization, this gasoline can use low cost refinery streams. These streams are available in most refineries. 

Test results clearly show that improvement is real and significant.

This low octane gasoline gives satisfactory results when used in modern engines. The octane number can be increased with our new formulated octane booster. 

It is additionally noteworthy that the reformulated gasoline used in these tests contained over 17% olefins.

This Reformulated gasoline is expected to cost several cents less per gallon to produce, and yet produces fewer emissions in all categories than California Phase 2 gasoline. It will certainly be difficult for refiners to ignore this new formulation, since it requires fewer refinery processes, costs less to produce, costs less to increase refinery capacity, can be shipped through pipelines and stored in underground tanks since there are no corrosive or rusting properties, and does not require oxygenates.
